And just like that we’re heading towards fall…

Summer 2014 was a blast. Lots of weddings and travel and fun. Here are some of my favorite #tessdressed moments.IMG_0371

Cheering on the US Men’s National Team during the World Cup in a vintage romper, belt I made, Blenders glasses and lots of red, white and blue.

Fun work trip to LA in Frankies Bikinis.

Made some fun shirts with my vintage inspired tattooed paper doll Bettie. #bettiesbandshirt was a hit. Going to print more in new colors for fall!

White lace fringe tunic takes 50 Dresses to Mexico! Blenders shades- as if I have any others!

50 Dresses lace fringe tunic over shorts and a tank was a uniform this hot hot summer.

Ended the summer with a happy birthday in a classic 50 Dresses number I made and sweet Mexican vintage boots!

Summer is Here

Great vintage wool hat, 50 Dresses tank, James Jeans Twiggy, Taupe GiBlack Abarcas.

Wore a vintage silk dress (I shortened and removed the sleeves from) and J. Crew flats to the wedding of a dear friend. My tie-making abilities are coming along too as evidenced by Willie’s new custom tie!

Loved wearing this stunning vintage dress to a beautiful Colorado wedding. Even wore a vintage silk slip underneath. The design, detail, and fit on this piece are just superb! I rarely see this color, and loved wearing it.

Happy June!

Fun quick trip to Vegas for a great wedding at the Neon Museum.

Traveled in Banana Republic coated black jeans, Gil Torres booties, S.W.O.R.D. leather jacket, fancy Magaschoni cashmere hoodie sweater, vintage silk scarf, Brixton hat, Kate Spade purse, and a fantastic new leather trunk carry on with vintage detailing.

Wore a Leifsdottir black dress and Aldo nude heels to the nuptials.

Loved debuting my new 50 Dresses lace and fringe tunics! Available in black and white, this versatile piece can layer over a solid first layer for a more modest streetwear look, or stands on it’s own as a bikini cover-up!  Blender’s Monte Carlo sunglasses are my new favorite eye protection. Lululemon top and Midori Bikinis Wild Hearts bottom complete my beach wear look. Also loving my new GiBlack sea green abarcas! They continue to be my favorite summer shoe.

50 Dresses goes bridal

Good friends from college Jax and Jeff married over the weekend. I was thrilled to make 8 bridesmaid dresses for the occasion (and wore one!). The dusty blue maxi strapless silhouette was flattering and comfortable with bright coral orange J. Crew flats. For the rehearsal I wore a 50 Dresses No. 1 Dress in black and white with Zara heels.

Just returned from a wonderful two week trip to Thailand with my mom. The full photo album is up on my Instagram, but here are some highlights. Traveling is challenging wardrobe-wise, since you’re forced to pack few items and see what happens with “outfits” when you get there. I loved the trip. We went to Ko Phi Phi, Chiang Mai, and Bangkok. Here are a few things I wore.

Vintage Modus Vivendi shirt (made in Greece) I found thrifting in Denver. Blenders eyewear polarized glasses are great for traveling since they’re lightweight and not too expensive so I’m never too stressed out about taking great care of them.

Purchased this fun unicorn shirt at Chatuchak market in Bangkok. I was impressed by how many local small designers were represented. Bought this Thai Hmong style skirt at a street stall near Doi Suthep in Chiang Mai. Railcar tote bag is perfect for traveling. GiBlack abarcas are still my favorite warm weather shoe; I traveled with both the black and the taupe this trip.

Chaco shoes are really great for travel and beaches. They have good traction and cloth straps. I’ve had these black flip flops for years and they’re holding up!  Baggu’s duck bag in canvas is a trusty travel partner too. Loving wearing a crochet/lace look dress (a gift from my aunt) and no-brand muumuu dress that I ripped into a cardigan mid-boat trip for added function (originally from a thrift store in Denver).

Brixton hat (a sample I bought from a rep- not sure if this style was produced or where sold). Midori Bikinis Mau Loa top, Tyler Rose bikini bottom I found on eBay last summer. I love swimsuits and prefer suits from smaller companies who specialize in swimwear- the quality difference is clear. These two companies use great thick and elastic fabric, have modern and flattering cuts, and wear really well.

Midori Bikinis Whale Tale bottoms and Tyler Rose Swimwear top. Mom’s in a cute maillot from Garnet Hill.

Derek Lam Design International dress from Kohl’s. It’s a lightweight cotton, long sleeved dress and is the perfect beach travel piece.

Gap denim jacket, thrifted vintage silk shirt, 50 Dresses infinity cowl scarf, vintage Aerosoles boots, and the comfiest Ann Taylor purple pants. Even when traveling in warm places, I think it’s important to dress properly for air travel- no flip flops on the plane!

Thrifted white dress from H&M in front of the most beautiful vista of Ko Phi Phi.

50 Dresses siren dress layered over a grey tank, GiBlack abarcas, a scarf from my aunt.

Till next time, Thailand!

Señorita Slip

I love when I make dresses and then fall in love with them afterwards. This 50 Dresses Señorita Slip dress was not my favorite at first- maybe because today’s the first day I’ve worn it? I am now obsessed! Great fabric, slinky bias cut, cute fringe at the top and VERY comfortable. Worn with Gap jacket, GiBlack abarcas and a 50 Dresses polka dot headscarf. Visiting NYC this week, so going for all comfort, all the time!
