I’m just a giant purple marshmallow. Double cozy action with my white puffy down Land’s End vest layered under this Uniqlo coat (they have the best affordable options). I knit these black legwarmers years ago and don’t wear them enough. Legwarmers over jeans? I’m going to keep working on this idea, but boy am I warm. Love this Band of Outsiders/Target/Neiman Marcus hat from my sister.
If you’re wondering what a great vintage scarf looks like, here’s an example. Hand printed, hand rolled hem, pure silk. Total luxe glamour available to anyone who looks hard enough! It is about to snow, and had I the luxury of traipsing around this field for hours, this is what I’d wear. Vintage Brooks Brothers Duffle coat, Banana Republic sweater, Norma Kamali for Walmart long navy jersey dress, green jacket from Kohl’s, motorcycle boots, and black hand-knit legwarmers!
So these gloves! 100% silk lining, Real hide. Giselle, Made in France. These vintage beauties are the stuff dreams are made of. The stitching and craftsmanship is perfect! Worn with a Seeberger wool bow hat I bought in Munich. Missoni for Target silk scarf layered under a hand-knit-by-my-sister mushroom gray wool cowl scarf. Black coat is thrifted, and I wish I knew the brand. It is fit for a petite frame- love the perfectly placed waist seam, and covered buttons in the front, and baby blue lining. The sleeves are the right length too- I scored it for $3, no lie. Basic Ann Taylor wool sweater with horizontal ribbing (love!), and Banana Republic A-line skirt. Wolford purple stockings, Etienne Aigner thrifted boots.
My sister has great teacher style. I keep teasing her that she needs to start a blog entitled “Teacher Style.” Will feature an outfit of hers one day soon.
J. Crew printed pants (thrifted), Ann Taylor cashmere sweater of the week (thrifted), vintage toggle coat (ebay), Railcar tote, and a great black bead vintage necklace that I usually wear on bare skin but I’m loving the collar effect here.
Thrilled with the amazing cashmere pink Burberry scarf I scored at my awesome Goodwill Outlet outing along with a burgundy cashmere Ann Taylor sweater. Two colors I would never have picked in the store but loving how they look and feel on. The pink reminds me of ice cream. Coat- Sessún (ebay), Jacket- Gap (thrifted), Boots- Old Navy (they are on sale now!), Necklace- MKaltenbach. Everyday is a jacket + coat day these days, and I am having fun trying to layer different combinations of sweater, jacket, coat, scarf. Colorado is sunny but cold!
I was talking to a group of fashion design students today at Johnson and Wales University today about 50 Dresses, design, and business in general. With my navy duffle I felt right at home on campus. My sister hand-knit the camel slouchy hat. I knit the cabled hand warmers, and made the scarf from random awesome mystery fabric. This coat is great because it’s big enough to wear a puffy vest underneath! Staples: my favorite Santa Fe Boot Co. motorcycle boots and Railcar Jeans. Stay warm people!
Found this fab duffle coat on eBay last week. I’ve always called them toggle coats but I guess they are also called duffle coats. Made in England, vintage Brooks Brothers. Gorgeous details and high quality wool. Also fits this moi- petite size- which is amazing. Check that 22″ sleeve! Worn with my new vintage Etienne Aigner $5 thrifted riding boots, the scarf I am always wearing and Tres Noir Ultra Lux sunglasses. Awesome company from Long Beach, CA. Independent and USA made.
